AS striking double wedding ring quilt featuring a broad white border to showcase the hand quilting
Most of the rings in this quilt are centered with an original star. Background gradation fom black in the center to white in the outer rings and a broad border creates contrast and allows showcasing of the hand quilting. Deeper colors where the rings meet and lighter colors between create luminosity. I used CutRite templates with the Slit 'N Sew method, but adapted the number of patches in each ring,
I made this quilt in honor of my mother, Cecelia Niemann, who made many traditional double wedding ring quilts to give her grandchildren as wedding presents. It was raffled by the African Province of the School Sisters of Notre Dame to help fund the health care of the SSNDs in Africa. Marilyn Ferrick was the winner.
