Fibonacci's Cabin
Fibonacci's Cabin
"Fibonacci's Cabin" by Nikki Woolsey won Third Place in the Log Cabin Challenge at QuiltCon 2023.
Artist Statement: "If you follow the path in a gentle spiral, you'll come to Fibonacci's Cabin out on the prairie. The setting is quiet and serene with just a few pops of color from the wild flowers and the blue sky overhead." I chose a modified log cabin block to play with the ideas of negative space and scale. While the eye is drawn by the growing spiral, the math behind the blocks follows the Fibonacci sequence where each number is the sum of the two numbers that precede it. As the scale of the blocks increases, the open space becomes a vast expanse inviting the viewer to wander through the pieces."
