"Felted Trees" by Charlotte Hickman combines felting and thread play together with fantastic results.
Felted Trees features a background that is entirely threadpainted. The titular trees of the quilt are a favorite design of Charlotte's, as she likes their twisty, old, and gnarly look. These "wise" trees were created using needle felting and then appliquéd onto the background, while the lower part of the background was pieced.
