Inspired by a photo taken on safari in East Africa by Julie Gunlach, this quilt was made for the auction at Microfinancing Partners in Africa a non-profit in Saint Louis that provides funds for small loans offered by organizations in Africa. Almost forty years ago Josephine served as a missionary in Sierra Leone. Making quilts for this organization is a way to still connect with her missionary heart. She considers this quilt her masterpiece and is grateful it brought in a significant sum.
