Endless Rainbows
Endless Rainbows
This dynamic quilt was constructed as one big spinning wheel.
This huge pinwheel that seems to be moving clockwise was designed on an eleven by eleven piece of paper with a compass. Then one section was enlarged on craft paper with a yard stick and compass points. When all the fabric pieces were sewn together, the navy blue curved strips were too dominant, the appliqued "clouds" solved the problem.
This quilt was made in honor of Ben Stepp who died in a tragic accident at a family reunion. The morning of his funeral a double rainbow appeared in the sky above the pond where he drowned, even though the sun was not shining, nor rain falling.
The quilt was raffled in 2015 to fund the work of the School Sisters of Notre Dame Province of Africa.
