Blanket with submarines in the South Seas

Blanket with submarines in the South Seas

My first patchwork quilt and a birthday present for my daughter.
Unfortunately, I started sewing only when I was almost 70 years old through Corona. In the pictures you can see my first patchwork quilt. Sewed with a lot of motivation but without much basic knowledge about 2 years ago. At the time I had a mechanical $200 US sewing machine with about 7 inches of space to the right of the needle. It was already not easy to squeeze the quilt through the small machine.
Here is some more technical data:
864 squares 2 inches; Topping: printed cotton fabric; Binding machine sewn from front back sewn by hand; Batting: baskets 80/20; Boot appliques: glued on with fleece fix with zig-zag stitch.
This quilt was a birth wand gift for my daughter and since she is interested in historical submersible technology and also published books about such boats, I just appliqued U-boats.

She was very happy about it and posted pictures of the quilt to her acquaintances.
