Deception Decomposition #2
Deception Decomposition #2
"Deception Decomposition #2" by Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry won 2nd Place - Wall Quilt at the 2021 Spring Quilt Festival.
Artist Statement: "This quilt began with a photograph I took in Antarctica in February 2020 at an abandoned whaling station on Deception Island. With my camera, I found some interesting patterns in the corrosion on the decaying equipment. The image for Deception Decomposition #2 was cropped from one of these photos. It was reshaped, recolored, digitally painted, and digitally printed on cotton fabric, then quilted almost to the level of machine embroidery."
