"Dance of the Twirly Girls" just won Best Wall Quilt at AQS Paducah 2019. Andrea said that she dedicated this quilt to her Aunt Esther and Aunt Helen that left their earthly bounds within a month of each other last winter (2018). Andrea needed to put her sadness somewhere so, she pulled out the fuchsia top that she had painted that previous summer and turned her sadness into joy. These fuchsia blossoms were at least 4-5" long and danced in the wind. While stitching, I thought of my aunties twirling around in a joyous dance. They are the Twirly Girls.
