Construction Management
Busy little grandson on the beach at Lake Tahoe. Pieced. This is one of four--one for each of my grandchildren.
My quilting heroine is Ruth McDowell. I was fortunate to take classes from her and learn her technique. Ann Shaw teaches her technique now that Ruth has retired from teaching. The quilt is all pieced with straight seams except the tool in his right hand is appliqued--just a small bit of cheating! It isn't hard to design, but it does take a long time to assemble. Choosing fabric is challenging so that there is enough contrast. In this case, for much of the background, the back side of the fabric is used. This quilt is from a photograph taken when our grandson was 3. Thankfully his parents trained him to wear a hat!
