Artist Statement: "My original design was inspired by a dried floral wreath of gum nuts, seed pods, gum blossoms, and waratahs. The wreath was a housewarming gift from my daughter when we moved to our new house. The Japanese yarn-dyed cotton fabrics were needleturn hand appliquéd and embellished with hand-embroidered details and colonial knots using cream Sashiko thread. The free-motion machine quilting was designed to enhance and complement the appliqué work."
