Colibrí was inspired by a bird that Ann saw while traveling in Mexico. The bird featured is a hummingbird of the genus Colibrí, hence the title, and is found in Mexico and South America. It is unique due to its reddish bill, which is not something commonly seen on similar birds in the United States. Ann just loved the look of the bird when she saw it, and wanted to incorporate some of the Mexican plant life and colors into her work to bring it to life.
