China Blue Round Robin
China Blue Round Robin
An entire bolt of blue & white paisley fabric was the inspiration. Machine pieced and hand appliqued by several friends.
This is a group quilt started in a 1997 round robin. The small blue center square is a piece of silk a friend brought me from China because she knew it was my favorite shade of blue. There were no rules in the round robin; each participant did what she thought the quilt needed at that point. I supplied many fabrics, but participants could add their own also. At one point, we changed to a king size bed from a queen. The quilt sat for a long time before I came up with a satisfactory final border. I had it quilted by checkbook because I don't attempt anything this large, and I wanted more intricate quilting than I can do myself. After 25 years, it was completed in June 2022.
