In this quilt, the words challenge, chance, change, courage, and Chizuru, which is the name of my
mother, are spelled out. As the viewer moves from side to side, the image changes when viewed from
different angles. I recall that my mother always challenged herself to see the world in new ways, so
I made this quilt as a challenge to myself and to honor the memory of my mother.
