Buzzed Birds

Buzzed Birds

"Buzzed Birds" by Latifah Saafir was part of Latifah's exhibit at Quiltcon 2022.

Artist Statement: "A group of quilters were invited to design a quilt for the Denyse Schmidt Modern Solids. Our design prompt was to make a modern quilt based off of a traditional block. I chose a traditional block called Birds in the Sir which is built with Half-Square Triangles. I elongated it to be Half Rectangle Triangles and rotated the blocks, so they rested on the diagonal angle. The name Buzzed Birds comes from a story taht was floating around a few years ago about birds that were getting drunk from fermented berries hence Buzzed Birds. I crack myself up understanding that my sense of humor is not for everyone."
