This quilt was made using batik and hand painted fabric to showcase a beautiful Carribean reef and butterfly fish
I am fasinated by all the beautiful and strange creatures and plants that live in our oceans. They are a never ending source of inspiration for my quilts and I enjoy the challenge of creating something that reflects some of that diversity in each quilt I make. This one features the beautiful and colorful Butteryfly fish, the ever popular sea turtle, small schooling fish, sea corals and sponges, and sea fans. Almost everything portrayed is realistic but every once in a while I like to throw in something from my imagination just for fun. I hand paint many of the images or add paint for shading, highlights and dimension. Choosing the fabrics and colors is a joy and when I finish one I can't wait to start another.
