This art quilt is inspired by a piece by Bethanne Nemesh, and it was actually my finall project in her "Breaking Boundaries" online class. This class focused primarily on free motion background fill and design. I absolutely love this organic and free style of quilting, and this quilt showcases the vast variety of freemotion fill taught in this class. The borders are constructed via improv curved piecing, and are intended to create the feeling of being amidst a blue lagoon. The 2 koi fish are made of silk dupioni and machine appliqied, and the sun is made of shibori silk imported from Japan.
