"B.S. I Love You" by Janet Stone won 1st Place Embellished at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2011.
Janet Stone loves her animal quilts, and B.S. I Love You is no different, this time with its emphasis on bees. Winning 1st Place Embellished at the Houston International Quilt Festival in 2011, fellow award-winning quilter Karen Kay Buckley had this to say about Janet's quilt, "The detail on Janet's quilts are what help to make them so outstanding."
Artist Statement: "This quilt was made as a tribute to my dear husband, Brad, and whose initials are B.S. I tried several fabrics to use for the bee wings. I finally found crinoline fabric like what is used for square dancing skirts to make them poof out. It's 100% cotton and really stiff, which I thought would make it easier to appliqué. It worked great. I pieced the tan and white background. All the blocks were pieced or appliquéd, attached to the background, and then quilted. Filigree embellishments, hotfix studs and crystals, and a set of letter charms were added."
Fun Fact: "I was originally going to have a letter B where the S is and I was going to name it, 'Let-ter B', a play on the words to the song Let It Be. Get It? Yeah, I didn't think anyone else would either."
