A stunning, original, star quilt, the artist's third (and most successful) zoom quilt, symbolizes the birth of a star.
This medallion zoom quilt (a quilt design method invented by Josephine) began with a 12" nine-patch which was enlarged twice omitting the center patch. The outer blocks were adapted with white rays, and diamond and square shapes repeated, to blend the blocks with the white border.
It was only after the quilt was finished that the maker recognized that the three growing stars symbolized the birth of a star. Awesome wonder, indeed!
This quilt was raffled to raise money for the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Province of Africa, specifically for the sisters' health fund.
