This quilt is my version of Janet Stone's BOM from 2014. It is hand appliquéd and hand quilted
A quilrt friend of mine and I both decided we wanted to make " A-Z With Ewe and Me", Janet Stone's BOM for TQS in 2014. Because we were both working on other projects at the time we didn't begin our quilts until 2017. To make my quilt I selected an initial set of fabrics but often went back to my stash to find just the right piece, making it all the more fun. The piping and outer border were selected after the blocks were completed and joined together. I used red fabrics to spell my granddaughter's name, Avery; black with gold fabrics for TQS; and 17 black fabrics for the remaining letters. I decided to hand appliquéd instead of fusing, using Ricky Tim's Stable Poly Stuff to glue baste the appliquéd before stitching down. I also used wool for the sheep, fleecing the border sheep with French knots using Shetland Spindrift yarn. My granddaughter, whomI was babysitting on Mondays, went to my quilt group with me and watched her quilt come together, giving it loving hugs along the way. The final stitch was put into the quilt on Dec. 2021. Avery turned six in Nov. 2021 and now snuggles under her quilt on her bed.
