April's Flower
April's Flower
April's Flower - I took a class from Art Quilter April Sproule of Sproule Studios in Fortuna, Ca. I had so much fun in this class and learned so many things. I used different threads to make leaves. It was my first time to use silk; we burned the edges and painted on each petal to give the flower some life. I used silk doupioni to make the stem. I used a skirt fabric for the swirls and net for the dragonfly.
The quilting was done by April Sproule because I knew I didn't have the skills to sew on this fabric. I just love how the quilting and thread she chose has enhanced this piece. It looks like a fine picture and I am keeping this for myself to enjoy.
I'm not intimidated by silk as I use to be. I really enjoyed her class and learned so much.
