AMISH QUILT, NEW YORK STYLE
I dreamt of making this quilt for 28 years. It was the night after taking a Harriet Hargrave Machine Quilting Class and a Lecture from Debra Wagner on Machine Trapunto. They inspired me, they taught me so much, that my head was buzzing with information.
That night I had my first dream about this quilt, I drew the quilt on drafting paper that night before going to bed 28 years ago. Now, the finished Quilt hangs on my wall in my bedroom. I dont dream of the quilt any longer, but I look very closely at the quilt every day, densely quilted around each design. I matched my thread color to the fabric, I used cotton, cotton poly, and rayon, whatever I had that matched.
I quilted with two layers of batting designed by Harriet Hargrave - Cotton/Polyester 80/20 and 100% Wool. I also used Fairfield 100% Polyester for the Trapunto.
I am inspired by everything I see, people I talk to, Museum Exhibits, skyscrapers in NYC to the mountains of PA. When I teach a class I want my students to feel what I feel-thats when the magic happens.
