"American Still Life" by Sandra Leichner won Best of Show at the Indiana Heritage Quilt Show.
American Still Life was made by Sandra as a way to honor soldiers and their families who taken part, or been a part of, the Iraq War. The birds that sit on each side of the basket with the flag in the center were quite the challenge for Sandra to create, as she wanted them to be identical. She achieved her goal, as the birds are so identical that if you were to draw a line from one beak to the other they match exactly.
