4543 represent the words of the original U.S. Constitution
312 represent the words to the Star Spangled Banner
31 represent the words of the Pledge of Allegiance.
235 represent the years America has been a country
I also incorporated American History by quilting parts of the Gettysburg Address, the Declaration of Independence and the Preamble to the Constitution. The 13 original colonies are represented by using 13 points on the outer blue rays and red triangles. The 50 states are represented with the ring of 50 stars.
Quilted across the hanging sleeve are the words to the song "Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood.
