Adventures of Aquamarine & Amethyst
"Adventures of Aquamarine & Amethyst" by Margaret Solomon Gunn won Outstanding Machine Quilting Frame at R2CA 2025.
Road to California 2025 Artist Statement: "In late 2023, I set out to complete a 7yr old bag of half-stitched mandalas. Like the step-sister that never attended the ball, these little gems were awaiting their time to shine. The finished "crystals" dance on the silk background like a fabulous adventure of color. Hand-guided longarm quilting (in a very gutsy color too!)."
Pacific International Quilt Festival 2024 Statement: "Started in 2016, this quilt explores how fussy-cutting the same bold-print fabrics can create completely different mandalas. They are set on hand-dyed lavender silk, a trademark of mine, and finished with hand-guided longarm quilting. My quilting style has changed significantly since this quilt was started, explaining the many years it hibernated in a box before it was finished."
