"Janet Stone: And Now I Know My ABCs!" Exhibit Statement: "This quilt was inspired by some antique wreath blocks I had seen online. Using the taupe colored fabrics again made this quilt a fun one to make. I suppose it was my pandemic quilt, as I had been furloughed in March 2020 from my regular job and was able to work on finishing this quilt. I went back to work a couple of weeks later, but I totally made use of my time off and loved it! The quarter inch channels in this quilt were stuffed with yarn to give it a trapunto look. Rounded corners and some machine couched metallic cord set off the scalloped edges."
Initial Artist Statement: "This quilt was inspired by antique Wreath blocks. All quilting was free-motion quilted on a sit down machine with no rulers. Quarter inch channels were stuffed with yarn after quilting for a trapunto look. Hand-covered buttons and embellishments were added because who doesn't love a little embellishing?"
Fun Fact: "I originally designed this quilt where all the blocks were circles. I showed the design to my friend, Gilbert, who suggested I make some of the blocks a diamond shape to break up the circles a bit. It was the perfect suggestion!"
