Artist Statement: "This quilt was inspired by pictures of antique jewelry I often peruse on the internet. The velveteen fabric in this quilt was hand dyed by my friend, Gilbert Muniz, who also dyed the fabrics for The A-E-I-O Ewes. I appliquéd and then bound each block with a single binding. I then placed them all on the background fabric and appliquéd them down. Everything was then quilted through all layers. Quilting on the velveteen was a little tricky, but I did a simple design, quilted in metallic thread, and embellished with metallic hotfix rhinestuds."
Houston International Quilt Festival 2018 Artist Statement: "Inspired by antique pieces of jewelry, the background is velveteen and hand-dyed by my friend, Gilbert Muniz. Because of my love for sheep, which are often featured in my quilts, my husband insisted this one also have a sheep. There's one in there. An original design, this is the 18th quilt in my ongoing Alphabet series."
Fun Fact: "I was nearly almost finished with this quilt when my husband said, 'Where's the sheep?' The only spot I could find for one was in the M block where I added a tiny sheep button I had in my collection."
