A to Z for Ewe and Me

A to Z for Ewe and Me

Artist Statement: "Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims invited me to design a Block of the Month quilt for TheQuiltShow.com. We had a conference call on the phone one day and literally, before the end of the evening, I had the quilt designed. I had never written a pattern before, and I had to figure out how to tell a beginner quilter the step-by-step process of creating each block. I took lots of pictures of the process. TQS provided me with an editor when I was finished, and someone to make all my drawings into perfect computerized drawings, as I am not that technologically advanced. The name of each traditional block starts with a letter of the alphabet. There are 2 original blocks, the J, for Janet's lamb, and the N, for Nancy's basket, named after my mom, and containing 4 flowers, one for each of her children. The names of each block are written on the label on back."

Fun Fact: "Two very talented friends, Doris Hendrickson and Margo Clabo, were my 'stunt stitcher' for this quilt. After I wrote the pattern, they volunteered to take my pattern and make the quilt to see if the way I wrote it made sense. They both did an amazing job on their vision of this quilt!"
