It's based on a photograph that my daughter took while living in Valparaiso, Chile. I love the primary colors of the buildings, the strong shadows, and all the details of the plants and laundry.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\r\n\tCreating and attaching all the little 3D laundry items was probably the biggest challenge on this quilt. I used several different kinds of fabric, treated to reduce raveling, but still be somewhat drapeable. In the end, I discovered that cotton knit underwear was probably the best fabric for this, so I sacrificed some older pairs to the cause! I also used designer samples of real curtain fabric for the window coverings.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\r\n\t\"Valparaiso Rowhouses\" won a ribbon for \"Best Interpretation of Theme - Wall Quilt\" at the 2017 Pacific International Quilt Festival.
