The computerized quilting pattern is Maureen's Stars and Pearls by Maureen Foster. It was started for the Moda 50 Years Contest but wasn't entered. It was based on a sampler pattern I drew in EQ a few years ago. The dark background triangles were cut first and placed on a design wall. Then the star blocks were made 2 at a time using the same fabrics with different designs, for a total of 20 different block designs. There are 1972 pieces in the quilt center and 900 pieces in the pieced borders. A few different Moda fabrics were added for a total of 50 fabrics used in the quilt. The units measure 4 1\/2\" high. The assembly was done in horizontal rows. I auditioned other border designs first before deciding to go with simple squares and 4 patch blocks using leftover fabrics from the 5\" strips.
