A few weeks after my mother was given the quilt my uncle Laurie was shown the quilt. He asked my mother if he could show the quilt during the Congress mondial 2006 Bourque family reunion, when my mother mentioned this to me I got the idea to do a 3rd quilt as a memory of the families who founded l'Acadie. As I started doing research it became apparent that this project would be of mammoth proportion in doing and in a completed quilt as there are over 800 familes who founded l'acadie. Through la Société des acadiens et des acadiennes de Nouveau Brunswick I was able to obtain a list of all the family names who had deported. This quilt is not about the deportation but of some of the families who had a hand in making l'Acadie what it is today.
