There is lots of sand then huge rocks jut out of the ground. The sky can be quite open and beautiful. I hope this quilt gives the feeling of strength and peace in the vast openness of New Mexico. I used my hand dyed cotton and silk to make this along with a few commercial fabrics. I embellished with thread that had come from my hand dyed fabric. After each washing I collected the strings off the fabric and waited to put them on the right quilt.
