Around 6 years ago I wondered if the Feathered Star block could be made with 6 units instead of 8. I made a practice block and liked the results so started designing quilts using the many different blocks I drafted on 60 degree graph paper. The fabric used in this quilt is Moda \"The Flower Farm\" by Bunny Hill Designs. The background pieces were cut first and placed on a design wall. Then the stars were made one at a time using oversized piecing techniques and a 60 degree ruler of my own design. The assembly is done in rows so there are no y-seams, making it much easier to make than the traditional Feathered Star block.
