One is that bias tape is really easy to make. And two, the properties of bias tape are really intriguing to this engineer's brain, i.e., I really enjoyed playing with it. So, I started imagining quilts with bias tape being the main element. Convergence was my first quilt exploring this technique. And guess what - it worked! I love to think about the quilt that took me down a rabbit hole. I decided to make top-stitching a part of the design so as not to have to hand stitch anything down.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003e \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eI love the subtle print on the background fabric that you can really only see in person. The two aqua strips are a favorite as well. And this is where that chunky binding really reflects the bias tape elements in the quilt.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003e \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eWhile making this quilt I thought a lot about all those bias tape ends coming together at the top and bottom of each orb shape. It made me think a lot about what coming together means literally and figuratively.
