When she couldn't find a yellow fabric that she liked, she left the centers to be open. After leaving those centers open, Tina still didn't know how to proceed in making her quilt. So, she threw the \"flowers\" she had made on the floor and they landed in the pattern that is now seen on the quilt. Seeing the \"flowers\" from this perspective, Tina thought they now looked liked gears and she could now envision what the quilt would be.
