I offered to make a quilt for one of the prizes. This was displayed around the area and we raised $3,000.\r\n\r\nThe cats are my drawings. It was a challenge to decide the layout and order of construction, since the cats overlay the sashings and border. Each of the cats has several pieces. I used all directional prints - mostly stripes - and cut legs, tails, etc on the bias, so you can see movement. I had hoped to make a commercial pattern of this quilt, but after doing all the alignment markings, deciding which piece went over what, etc., I have a whole new respect for pattern makers! It's a lot of work to design; let alone write instructions that will make sense to others.\r\n\r\nAll of the work was completed on my home sewing machine with lots of fancy threads. The free motion quilting includes swirls, lettering, mice, cheese, cats, etc. - all self-designed to fit the space.
