Kumiko Frydl

Festival De Estrellas

Festival De Estrellas

Festival De Estrellas by Kumiko Frydl won First Place - Miniatures at AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah 2026. It is hard to appreciate all the work that went into this mini masterpiece from just a couple of photos, but that's why we have quilt judges to view it up close. That's why Kumiko's efforts did not go unrewarded, as her quilt also won 1st Prize in the Miniature Quilts category at  The Festival of Quilts 2025. At that show, the judges said of Kumiko's work,  "Masterful use of colour in the design which has been beautifully executed with amazing attention to detail." And when we say miniature, we do mean MINI, as this quilt measures just 12" by 12", only a little bit bigger than the butterflies flying all over the quilt, the title of which translates to "Star Festival".
