I pieced, quilted and bound it all this summer. They were married Oct. 12, 2024 which is the same day my husband and I met in 1986. It is also the 1 year anniversary of my husband receiving his bone marrow transplant. So his new birthday!! So much meaning for us on this date that of course, there needed to be a quilt!! My hope is that they get to visit each of the parks during their years together and create a lifetime of wonderful memories. They're taking a honeymoon to a few of these parks next year sometime. So it went along with their plans first and foremost. \u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eAbout the quilt:  \u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eI used a Riley Blake panel for the center, added a charcoal colored border on 2 sides, then surrounded with a border using Legends of the Parks fabric for a little fun. I added another charcoal border and finally a Mountain Majesties border. I mimicked the mountains on the wider charcoal border, used clamshell design on the green, Legends border. I made a pebbles design along each side of the panel to signify the paths they'll blaze. Then I quilted diagonal lines on the actual panel to keep it simple. The quilt needed to have either gladiolas or nasturtiums, contain the color ruby and have something that represented \"40\". When I saw this year's BOM, I thought it would be perfect since it included gladiolas. I decided that the \"40\" would be represented by my 40 year old fabric stash; all the fabric used was from that.  The center of the quilt is Sarah's pattern. I added the outside border depicting the Blue Ridge Mountains and my favorite dragonflies. This is my first applique quilt. The applique is all needleturn. I did the quilting on my longarm. Double batted, wool over 80\/20. The small blue center square is a piece of silk a friend brought me from China because she knew it was my favorite shade of blue. There were no rules in the round robin; each participant did what she thought the quilt needed at that point. I supplied many fabrics, but participants could add their own also. At one point, we changed to a king size bed from a queen. The quilt sat for a long time before I came up with a satisfactory final border. I had it quilted by checkbook because I don't attempt anything this large, and I wanted more intricate quilting than I can do myself. Background is duponi silk and the baskets are from my collection of silk ties.  Three of the baskets have embroidered flowers and some vintage crochet flowers from an old doilly.  My 93 yo aunt made some additional crocheted flowers and I added a couple of yoyo's.  The beaded piping is Bethany Nemesh's technique which I have been eager to try since seeing her demonstration.  I used some of Cindy Needham's stencils for quilting on domestic machine. I was able to find quite by accident \"sheep\" fabric for the back- sheep representing us church members! I then used my embroidery machine to embroider a specific label for the back, a picture of Jesus shepharding sheep with a good shephard scripture, along with the usual label information for the back. The quilt is machine pieced and quilted on my longarm. It was presented to the couple at church as a surprise on Sunday before the sermon. They were extremely surprised and grateful and they call it \"A Treasure\". The wife saying sweetly: \"No one has ever made us a quilt before and we will cherish it.
