I participated in Dee's classes which began in February, 2021 and completed the quilt in September, 2021.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eLong Time Gone is a scrappy sampler quilt with a modern twist. The quilt is made up of 16 different blocks.  Some blocks included are square in a square stars, pineapple log cabin, crosses of the U.K., trip around the world, and 60 degree triangles. Then one day I got the bright idea that instead of pulling that collection out and petting it a few times every year, if I actually used those fabrics in a quilt, I could enjoy them more often.  Using the block dimensions from Carolyn Forster's \u003cem\u003e\"Japanese Stars and Lanterns Quilt\"\u003c\/em\u003e pattern, I modified it for paper piecing.  After making a four-block practice quilt, I realized that leaving the solid background fabric in, underneath the string portion of each block, made for a very heavy quilt, so in the real quilt I eliminated that fabric; conserved both fabric and weight!  I was so focused on this quilt that it took me less than two months from start to binding; some kind of record for me.  I hang this quilt in my hallway for a month or two at a time, and every time I walk past it I see a different fabric and fall in love with the quilt all over again.  It contains over 150 different fabrics, so there's lots to love. When I tired of that, I just made a large paper finished pattern then pieced without the paper and made sure that it was the correct size after piecing.  Its really just a  log cabin pieced block.
