Alpha Block Celebration
Artist Statement: "When I finished my first alphabet quilt, Letters From a Broad, a friend of mine asked me if the blocks I used in that quilt had anything to do with the letters they were with. I said, no, but that's a fabulous idea! I could make a quilt with traditional blocks whose names start with each letter of the alphabet! My personal challenge was to find blocks that contained more than 26 pieces. I hand sewed colored beads along the quilting lines to help the quilting show up. At the time, I didn't know about thicker weight threads that would have shown up better! I wanted to add the names of each block and decided to free motion embroider the names around the edge."
Fun Fact: "The only block I paper pieced was the Log Cabin block so I could get those quarter inch lines straight."
