Maran's Mayhem
Maran's Mayhem
During the first time Lyric filmed with The Quilt Show in Charleston, she did a segment on color theory and used a stack of blue nine-patches to illustrate motion, texture, and shape. When she got home she decided she would take those nine-patches and put them together as a quilt. What she discovered was that piecing was not a love of hers and got through the number of nine-patches that are this quilt and then made the decision that that would be all there is. She then went about with her scraps and began crazy-piecing blocks, which she also came to the conclusion was not for her. The rest of the quilt, which she entitled "Maran's Mayhem", then became a large singular piece of negative-space fabric that Lyric dyed and then quilted.
