I really liked the Octopuses Garden pattern but decided to change the position of the elements for my quilt. The center block is in a different location. I rounded the edges of eleven blocks, and the pelican block is on the pier above the water. For fun, I added the humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa fish (the state fish of Hawaii) in honor of my Hawaiian friend, Sharon. The original borders are now inside the quilt. Not knowing whether she was doing appliqué right or not, having only seen it in a book, she came prepared to present. Once the meeting was over, she was told not to show her blocks to the speaker, but rather to someone who worked at a local quilt shop, who told her what she was doing was right. Relieved, she left, but unbeknownst to Jaimie that person recommended to the shop owner that Jaimie be hired to teach there. When I showed it to my daughter Allyson, we thought it should be captured on a quilt.  We equated four of the lines to seasons of the year and wrote them in the flower  wreaths and sun.  To complete the seasons theme trees were added; and a delicate inner border left plenty of space for a wonderful quilting.  My dear friend, Alex Anderson, designed the quilting for the border.\u003cbr\u003e The original quilt is Hand Applique with fabric, trim and ribbons.  The quilt has also been replicated using the Cameo by Sillhouette to cut out the trees, leaves and flowers.
